I saw the launch of the new Amazon Fire. At something of size 7.5 inches, between an iPad and an iPhone with a price point of $199 having many of the same basic elements, its going to be a DEFINITE hit. If you look at this video about 31 minutes in, is the Amazon Fire. It WILL rival the iPad. Both at price point and size. I’ve seen many a “iPad competitor.” They have all been bogus. THIS Amazon Fire is the competition. I almost want one, yet I can get the Kindle on iPhone and iPad. What does that tell you?
The iPad Competitor Has Arrived: Its The Amazon Fire
Interesting news! Thanks for this helpful information!
Thank you for your post, however, it seems quite a stretch to call the Kindle Fire an “iPad Competitor”. The two devices have quite different overall functions, and it depends what the buyer wants to do AND on the devices the buyer already has.
Also, with the Kindle Fire, it is not certain (since none of the reviewers so far has actually been able to hold and use the Fire) if the book module has the Kindle “real paper” functionality.
I have an iPad, an iPhone, a Mac, and a 7-inch Kindle with a keyboard.
I run a business. So while, I might move to the Kindle Touch, the Kindle Fire does nothing for me that I can’t do with all of my other devices; and I can’t run my business on the Kindle Fire like I can on my iPad. I can do everything Kindle on all on my other devices, but I don’t have the “real paper” experience on any of them except my actual Kindle.
For those people who just want Amazon-provided-only entertainment and reading, the Kindle Fire may be a good choice; otherwise “iPad competitor”? Not exactly.
Yea I watched it half way through. Maybe I’ll come back but it didn’t
have that much energy. I love Jeff and he is doing great being an
awesome guy, but I hope he will get even better over time.
