Great post Chris. I would add a 10th secret the list however. Happy people find ways to exercise regularly. I know since I have started to take the time to workout the last several months I feel 300% happier than I did before I started. I didn’t realize how stressed I had become from working my businesses. My daily workouts zap the stress right out of me.
Okay now on to incorporating your other steps into my life. #6 is the toughie for me!

Thank you for your post Chris. I’d like to add another secret:- Truly happy people choose to be happy. They do not depend on external circumstance to dictate their happiness. I call this Creative Happiness. Scientific research has shown that this works.

Matt and Yvonne. Agreed! Happiness is ultimately a choice. One of the most important factors in remaining happy is keeping your energy high. Exercise is the best way to do this. I was a fitness model and have exercised religiously for the past 17 years and wouldn’t like to think what my life would have been like without it!
The Quakers have a saying, ‘Pray and move your feet.’ Be happy but make sure to move into action frequently. Exercise is where it’s at.

Indeed it’s true that having an attitude of gratitude can significantly increase one’s happiness. The website GratitudeLog claims that by being grateful we can increase our happiness by 25%.

I completely agree with all of the secrets to happiness! They also don't let the little things bother them… and know how to “brush their shoulders off”
