A dogs unconditional love and heart is one of the most purest forms. In spite of whomever you are, your dog will still love you. I own very independent wolves/Huskies but they will always rally around me if I’m sick or hurt. Dogs that have suffered severe abuse can still find love in their hearts. Ive heard horrific stories I wont repeat here, where dogs suffer the worst and can still love again. They are an example for where we are less as humans in their ability to love and forgive. Many animals have the same tendencies.
I urge you to donate to any charity that improves the world and if you like the ASPCA or The Humane Society.
3.7 Million dogs and cats will be Euthanasized this year. Help protect something defenseless.

I can think of many evil people who could be euthanized, I cant think of any Dog that needs to be, lol. Either way please give to a charity of your choice. “A life worth living, is a life worth giving.”

Excellent article. There are so many pets that are killed everyday in shelters in the USA. There is a great site called Needful Souls that list many of them that are extremely urgent. You may want to link to it as well http://www.needfulsouls.org

Great story, I have an Aussie Shepherd that was abused when he was a pup. He is the most loveable dog I have ever owned. He is not just my pet but my best friend. I can’t imagine what a puppy could do to deserve what this little guy must have been through.

Our furred friends are a growing number in this economy, and the ever increasing numbers of domestic animals makes it difficult times for them. All can help in some manner – even if to volunteer time with rescue groups! Thanks

I grew up in an animal loving family: dogs, cats, large parrots, koi in the pond, and more! My sister worked in a dog/cat shelter for a while and the number of beautiful, intelligent and affectionate animals was sickening to watch.
If everybody can do a little part, be it spay and neuter, donate money, or just pass this message along, we would preserve so much life.

Great post – I would also add please remember your local shelters. Our’s is having to close as their land is being sold – this is going to result in more animals being euthanized.
As the supposed highest, most intelligent on the food chain – we have a responsiblity to help the other creatures on our planet.

Wow, this is such a nice post to share. Many know, I am a huge supporter of animal welfare and rescue. I write and tweet regularly.
I’m the proud and loving mom of 4 dogs and 1 cat, all rescues. They came to me a various stages in their lives, and in different ways. I dedicated a blog post to my pets in May.
Dogs do offer unconditional love. To a Dog, it doesn’t matter what type of person you are – their need to please outweighs all. I simply cannot understand how a human can mistreat, abuse, or neglect an animal … or another human. I can only hope that karma will visit them.

Dogs & horses are my favorites, although I’ve had just about every pet from frogs, turtles, hamsters, & lizards (growing up!), to exotic birds & even a chocolate skunk (de-scented). There is an amazing connection & unconditional love that dogs have, and they can heal the heart! My fur-baby Taz is a Pomeranian, & he was a rescue dog. I believe we need to support the many, many dogs that have no homes, by either adopting and/or donating to the animal shelters…also, volunteer to help with pet adoption events in your area. I’ve donated my holistic pet food, on a regular basis. I’ve retweeted this excellent article, & I will do it again…thanks, Chris!

We rescued a skinny, hyper German Shepherd Dog whose time was about up last year around this time. My son picked him out on Petfinder.com. After some obedience training, he has become the darling of the neighborhood. Rescue a dog today–train it well, give it a job, and it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life!
