**UPDATE: My Dad’s 2 MLM’s just changed the rules and screwed him AGAIN, promoting his top producers in his down line around him and changing commissions.
**NOTE: If you want to debate this with me in Comments below, make sure you attach proof of the incredible earnings your making on MLM.

Fascinating. This should be intuitively obvious if you ask me, as it’s just a legal version of a Ponzi scheme.
Great point Batman.
I agree 100% ! When I first escaped the 9-5 treadmill, my first endeavor was an MLM and I didn’t make JACK! It just demanded too much of my time and energy and people weren’t buying. I will say though, that through the MLM, I gained a wealth of education, experience and skill at networking, sales techniques & breaking out of my comfort zone. That knowledge and expertise I learned from that initial MLM investment, I now build upon, quickly becoming successful in my OWN events planning business. Just being a skilled networker makes me a happier person overall. I would say to anyone who has gotten “sucked in” to an MLM and feels defeated, you have not lost anything. Take the knowledge you’ve gained through the program and put it to use for your OWN business. I’m with YOU, Chris ~ if you’re in it to make money, MLM is probably not the best choice for most people. Thank you for all of your insights and positive energy, Chris. You’re wonderful! Wishing you all the best!
Chris you are so right- and this is why your bud Dana has problems with Twitter and BUZZ etc. Even things like Blogger- we’re on their server- and I just don’t like that. But back to the subject – you are right-and- unfortunately, for every time there is a right about MLM there is that person who made it- I like your approach of saying that if people want to do it fine, but if “I don’t own it, I don’t control it, I don’t do it.” Great, great, rule. Great video Christ thanks for putting it out there.
Brenda – Great words of wisdom.
Also retaining ownership is the name of the game and not diluting your equity stake to investors as your business expands. Publishing tycoon Felix Dennis stresses this point in his amusing book,”How To Get Rich”. I’ll not post the link but it’s on Amazon. Chris, I think you’d enjoy his wit and style.
I am sooooo on the same page with you Chris! I have tried a couple, mainly as favors to friends. What a waste of time and dollars! Wish I had it all back.
The ones who do make $$ with MLM are those who get in first. These outliers should not be used as role models. They have made the money by being the first on the block, not by being more talented than others in the MLM.
Thanks for being so no-nonsense!
The ones who make money in MLM are the ones who stick at it, not get there first, do u think that it was easier to build a down line then than it is now?
What a lot of rubbish, a regular company is a pyramid, you just pay with your labour and time and they do collapse, I do not see anyone having a whinge about the companies that go out of business, I suppose their business model is sound then?
Hey Chris, my MLM or rather BNB (business network builder) company has been around for 30 years, you have to make the right choice. Yes it is tough to build a downline, but I see people trying to build a business off of a single product like a bottle of juice from berries from the Amazon, come on you do not have to be that clever to realise that is not going to work.
Well Said, Learn from Every thing you do – I Do – I Learned new skills from the failed attempts at online marketing, So They are not a failure at all, Just a re education, which I can Now Use to its fullest advantage, And I Am, One skill I Learned completely parallel to this has lead me on a path of my own which I hope to share after fully testing in the “Real World” of Cyberspace, This technique works, I’m just waiting to see how much Cash it’ll generate, then I’ll share the concept with those who are genuinely interested… ProLithic
MLM teaches you a lot and the good thing is you need little capital to start up just lots of energy and commitment and as much time as you can afford. I work in ‘regular business’ and network marketing. I train everyone who I work with and teach them skills they can use in a myriad ways for the rest of their life. The lure of the MLM ! Thanks for breaking the spell. We needed this reminder, Chris.
The problem I see with MLM is the whole premise of how it works. IF you really think about it. The only way for people to make money is to recruit others to also sell. So if everyone is recruiting and selling who is left after time to buy the products? You essentially saturate the market area with salespeople and the number of customer diminish.
My brother was in Amway and worked his way up to the level just below Triple Diamond Distributor. Then he was told he would never get there. He sold out and learned a valuable lesson.
The other problem I find in dealing with people involved in MLMs is that they never talk about the products or the quality of the product. They are only talking what a great money making opportunity they have for you. Yes but while I am trying to make money you are reaping the benefits of my hard work in a cash incentive also.
So as soon as someone approaches me with a great money making opportunity I ask which MLM are you working for? Tell me about the product or service you sell. Most have a hard time telling me about the product or service as they have been trained heavily on recruiting.
Good point. Mlm is based on the 3-5 rule, basically the fact that any
new recruit will refer 3-5 friends and be used up at that point. It’s
just a meat grinder of bodies.

that’s some of the worst advise i ever heard, so whats your alternative?
that’s the worst advise i ever heard . so whats your alternative?
you left out one fact and that is that most people fail at any type of business not just mlm .so with that said um mlm for life . when u buy peoples opinions u buy there life style. show me a business where 50% of the people that go in have success.
Chris,
There are MLM firms with billion dollars in sales (even F500) who are creating more millionaires per year than executives who reach the same status with stock options, not tireless work. I have enjoyed your posts for months and encourage a conversation at your convenience. Open minded and open net worker is a core principle for anyone in direct selling where profits are retained by the individual, not the corporation who pays shareholders less than its franchise owners.
