UPDATE: Shortly after this post Brett Farve’s Sexting issue alleging he sexted women in the NFL, broke out. As an update, this is a good example of the dangers of sexting.
2nd Update: Heres an example of this issue Naked photo sends jilted lover to jail

Ah Chris – you mispoke lad, a crime was committed, against the young lady by those who wanted to be curious about her private telephone when they had no right? The court case is interesting, seems it must have been a civil case, I’d’ve loved to have dragged his obviously curious hiney (the principal) in front of a jury of his peers to ask him what on earth prompted him to “take a peep.” There are laws against such, obviously since she won, but I think some other things not addressed here were in action. You – oh mighty one, as always, are correct, it’s an area, however, Chris, that I don’t see diminishing, but for the reasons stated in the last two sentences of that blog; I believe this is an area that is going to continue to increase. 😉
I dont think I misspoke, did I say a crime was NOT committed against her?
That fact is pretty obvious.
I think Dan Savage’s take on this issue is insightful – there’s a video on Youtube called “Dan’s thoughts on the moral outrage about ‘sexting’: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=jfAUOq6NS0A
Warning: it’s NSFW (Not Safe For Work), and controversial.
That principal is WAY out of line – his job doesn’t give him the right to invade her privacy by going through the pictures on her cell phone. Protecting your children from people in positions of authority who abuse their power seems far more important to me than protecting them from their sexuality.
I do think your core message about being conscious about what goes on the web is very important, don’t get me wrong. You’re right, once it’s out there, it won’t go away. Yet, however much it’s tempting to force our children to conform to society’s norms, to keep them safe – teaching them to make their own choices using the power of critical thinking is the wise choice.
Well done Chris. I am glad you pointed this out and I hope teens and adults read this. Please be careful on what you post on the Internet or send around in the digital age.
Well done Chris. You came up with a very important thing.
keep it up Chris. i enjoyed that .
Really chris, good work done.Thanks.
Chris I enjoy your blog and in this specific subject I am 100% on you side, we have to be catalizers of all this Sexting wave… I was very surprised to see an ad Campaign in my country near a school the campaign seemed to be promoting sexting using a BlackBerry phones (About 80% of the Students in that school owned a BlackBerry) so I blogged about it and I few days later I had a reaction form them! they took down the campaign – we have to stand up in this occations… please see the pictures of the campaign and the blog here http://banda2cero.wordpress.com/2010/10/17/is-blackberry-promoting-sexting-with-this-ad-campaing-in-el-salvador-stop-this-now/
Good to bring this out; we did a landmark research project in 2009 on teen mental health issues in USA and Canada and “sexting” was at the top of the issues list. The research has been featured at a few international symposiums now. Toss in issues like “bexting” and it becomes a complex set of issues.
I do know it. But it is still not an issue. I hate to say it but your response lacks credibility. If you were were credibility you would not have to swear at me. Frankly who cares what you really have to say.
Uhhh you do know about the 1st amendment right asshole?
1st amendment
Well done Chris. Good job. We need to be informed. Thanks for sharing this information and the complexities involved. – The Prosperity Doctor
