Google+ and Video Hangout is So Easy Even My Retired Mom Can Do It

Google+ is in beta I wanted to test out the ease of operation by putting my mom and family on Google+ so we could use the video Hangout. Google+’s plain formatted layout and operation is fairly simple and easy to use for almost anyone. My family uses Skype to video chat but we can’t chat with more than 2 people on video without having to pay money to Skype’s Video Chat Service. Google+ gives us the opportunity to have up to 10 of us chatting on video for FREE.

My mom as lovely as she is, does not work well with computers. She will read out loud everything on the screen and tell you stories when you are trying to help her. She can get things so messed up on a computer, she can make computer service techs quit their job and jump out of windows. Google+ meet your ultimate challenge: Get my mom on your network and easily using video chat!

Google+ WON! It only took 15 MINUTES, I got her signed in, she understood the Circles concept VERY easily and then we were talking in the video Hangout area! 15 minutes TOTAL (keep in mind my mom moves doesn’t move fast at all). A few minutes later I walked my brother through it and we were all chatting on video for the first time! We even had less issues with video and audio than we had with Skype. PLUS, the expanded blow up frame of the main person chatting, enabled her to BETTER see what the grandkids were showing to her! This is huge for families and business.

Google+ really has a hit on their hands just by ease of family use alone!
