It’s all about the APPS, how nice/fun/easy they are for people to use. People don’t care about numeric benchmarks or specs if the apps are not great. Pundits and techies like us should realize that numeric/spec comparisons are not a reliable predictor of how much real people ultimately enjoy using the device.
The best software developers I know (and probably the best devs in general) are most enthusiastic about developing for Apple’s platform. The best apps come out first on iOS (iPad/iPhone/iPod). Some excellent apps are exclusive to iOS (e.g., GarageBand.) And there are more of them. And I believe it will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
Long live competition(!), but let’s not pick winners based on numbers alone. There are many good reasons why Apple is kicking butt. My household is abandoning Android devices and upgrading our Apple devices. Regardless of all the current attempts by companies like HTC/Samsung/Motorola, etc to catch up… I say good job Apple! Consumers who aren’t hip to Apple may be making a poorer choice than they realize. (yet)
