My Statement On The George Zimmerman Trayvon Martin Verdict

I havent said much about the Zimmerman trial because no one will win in this event. Its a grand tragedy for everyone. Trayvon paid the ultimate price with his life. Zimmerman will spend the rest of his life, looking over his shoulder, paying attorney fees for life and his decisions that night will imprison him to the end of his days. There are no winners here, but its up to US to make a difference.

I will say this: Lets see if we can move the discussion along and MOVE ON. The most important thing is that we learn from this and grow as a humanity. We are all humans being trying to survive and the sooner we get away from our differences and see our similarities, we can get to helping each other make the world a better place. We’re all human. The Verdict is in. Our court system did its job. There is no winner in this no matter what the outcome would have been. No answer was going to be the right answer.

One persons poor choices shouldnt define all of us or further seperate us. We should be looking for ways to come together, not apart.

Instead of arguing about the points of it all, we should be preparing on preventing it in the future. How to raise better kids, be educated and supportive of each other. The discussion should be how do we learn from this and make the world a better place. How do each of us, right now, in this moment of time, bring positive personal change and influence to our world. Bad things do happen, bad people make bad choices. Lets move the discussion to making sure that positive changes start to happen.

We need to stop dividing ourselves as nations, races, colors, etc. The more we divide ourselves the more we destroy. I see my fellow man as human. If you cut each of us open, we all look the same on the inside. The more we work together then the more we rise our humanity up. We’re all human and at that point nothing should separate us and our common goals. We’re all humans on a lonely raft in the middle of the universe and all we have is each other. In the end the things that will save us are what bring us together – not tear us apart regardless of nation or race.

A mother loves her child no matter where she lives on this planet or the color of their skin, etc. We are all human. Each of us have a part to play to influence this world for better or for worse. Each of us needs to take personal responsiblity to work to change and improve it. Each of us have to till our own yards and neighborhoods where we can affect change the best. We need to be better people, stamp out hatred, racism and teach kids to be better and smarter. It starts with each of us in our own little corner of the world. Each of us has to take personal resposibilty and action to make the world a better place. The history of man proves that man does NOT learn from his history. That HAS to CHANGE. Lets learn from this and build a society with less violence, fear, prejudice and anger. Lets quit arguing and work together.

It starts with all of us, right now. Sit down with your child. Talk about guns. Prejudice. Hate. Anger. Talk about how ignorant fear cripples. Teach them common sense. Teach them tolerance. Grow their self esteem. Sitting around bitching and arguing on a stupid social media site isnt gonna make a hill of beans difference 10-20 years from now. Who knows if Facebook or Twitter will even around then. BUT what you teach your children today and the way you treat each other in the world WILL. It will make a HUGE difference. Lets move on people. Go hug your kids and be good to your neighbors. Lets learn from this and grow together as a humanity and make a world thats better for everyone.

“Like it or not, we live in interesting times. They are times of danger and uncertainty; but they are also the most creative of any time in the history of mankind. And everyone here will ultimately be judged — will ultimately judge himself — on the effort he has contributed to building a new world society and the extent to which his ideals and goals have shaped that effort….These men moved the world, and so can we all. Few will have the greatness to bend history; but each of us can work to change a small portion of the events, and in the total of all these acts will be written the history of this generation….It is from numberless diverse acts of courage such as these that the belief that human history is thus shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” – Robert F. Kennedy
