I recently got acquainted with Darin Hager of Heyday Footwear (click for link). A Social Media friend of mine had a pair of Heyday shoes and bragged about them and the great company and people. Then I won a pair of Heyday shoes at a Social Media event. I’d forgotten about the free ticket for 2 months and Tweeted Darin to see if he’d redeem it. He quickly made sure I got them and was super supportive over Twitter to provide exception customer service.
From talking with Darin, Social Media has been a huge boost to his business. If you goto his Twitter account you can see he spends much of his time communicating with people. He is super warm and friendly guy, representing his brand with the utmost integrity. I love seeing a company use Social Media for success and have a huge customer service medium on Twitter.
Now given I’m not a big shoe guy. I have a 13 inch foot. I never know what will fit and usually a 13 means I have to do a 14 and its very frustrating to find good fits. Dress shoes and I are hated enemies. Normally, I wear flip-flops. So I’m skeptical anytime I buy shoes, ESPECIALLY if I’m ordering them online, which is a first with Heyday (extra points for them).
The night before the shoes arrived I’d been walking all of L.A. in dress shoes. I was limping and in pain the next day. I got the shoes and apprehensively tried them on. THEY FIT AND WITH ROOM TO SPARE! Normally, when I try on shoes they are constraining and tight. They were the right fit but spacious and comfortable. My feet were almost orgasmic walking around in them, keep in mind after being in so much pain from my dress shoes. My feet let out this giant “ahhhh.” I can honestly say in 40+ years I’ve never had a better experience with new shoes.
The great service and attention from Heyday is a super plus. I wish them continued success and goto their website at Click This for Heyday Link. Now if I can just get Heyday to make a line of open toe flip-flops I’ll be in heaven!
Why are you pushing shoes made in Uttar Pradesh (India)?…
I’m talking about a nice set of shoes whats your point?
Heyday Footwear is not made in India. They are made by hand in a boutique factory in Southern China.
I see Heyday got haters everywhere, LOL! But YO, I too wear a 14! My homie Mr. Brooks put me on to Heyday! Did my research found out that they were like a 1/2 size bigger. So I had to see what was good wit that 13! I have bought serveral pair since then….. Coolbeans!
Thats cool – I was worried that maybe I shouldve ordered a 14 but Heyday
just has 13’s. I was so relieved when I got them, plus I dont have to tear
up my feet “breaking in” new shoes.

I met Darin in a chance encounter about 4 years ago, and I’ve got to say he immediately changed my outlook on both style and business. Darin came with a vision that was clearly obvious; he was going to do his thing, follow his rules and if you didn’t like where he was going, he wasn’t going to let you bring him down. That vision hasn’t changed in the past 4 years; in fact it’s only grown stronger.
The people who buy his shoes love them because in addition to being uniquely styled, they’re incredibly comfortable, they wear incredibly well and they follow one of the mantras that Darin passed on to me when we first met- “Under-promise and Over-deliver.” You might look at Heydays and think “Oh, another urban fashion shoe” but you’d be wrong. The soles on the 4 pairs of Heydays that I have are so comfortable that I have no problem wearing them all day, even though I’m sure day in day out morning to night wear wasn’t what Darin had in mind when designing them.
Over the years,Darin and I have kept in touch, and every time I talk to him he does just one thing; he continues to make a raving, heyday inspired fan out of me!
I have 4 Pairs of HeyDay shoes…. Since ive bought them ive felt, taller, more confident, and more….stylish. Ofcourse you have the haters who say theyre ugly because theyre “Not jordans or foams” but it just makes me want to wear them more…. I enjoy being unique and wearing things that no one else has and these shoes are the easiest ways to do it. Greatest Shoes Ever…..hands down…
