   Good Morning kristen; I’m Joe Lopez Jr., an Army Vet w/ 10 yrs working for the Gov’t and 16+ in the pvt sector, lost my 7 yr f/t job in ’08. I worked for a non-profit as their Maintenance Supv. I can relate to so many heartbreaking stories I’ve read from people all accross this “great nation” of ours. My youngest daughter’s B’day was on the 16th, she turned 16. I cannot describe the sorrow I felt when I had to tell her “I’m so sorry honey, I couldn’t even afford to put at least a $20 bill in a card and send it to you.” I had to give her something…..so I painted a portrait of her and my sister shipped it for me. Yesterday was Fathers Day & what made my day was when my 2 young daughters messaged-me, wishing me a “Happy Fathers Day”. The fact that I couldn’t afford to go-out or do anything is not important to me. I have never had such trouble trying to find & secure a job (any job @ this point). Even w/ my multiskills and versatility the lob hunt seems futile and employers are being very choosy. Now, these Senators who voted no for the benefits extension, I have a few choice words for them. “Come down off your Ivory Towers, have a little taste of what we are having to chew cause I would love to see the look on your smirky faces when it starts penetrating your cold hearts!” Tier 5 & beyond is absolutely needed. I won’t destroy any more of my dignity by applying for welfare!
